Great skua (Stercorarius skua) – A175
The great skua has a wing span of between 125 cm and 140 cm. At a distance, this bird looks black, like a thick-set gull that is dark all over. Close up, the bird’s stripes and speckles of yellow are visible.

Great black-backed gull (Larus marinus) – A187
With a wing span of 145 cm to 165 cm, this is one of the largest gulls. Back and wings are black, the rest of the bird is white. Its beak is powerful and yellow. There is a red fleck on the lower beak. The great black-backed gull is a common breeding bird.

Common guillemot (Uria aalge) – A199
The common guillemot has a wing span of 60 cm to 70 cm. It has a thin, pointed beak, round chest, long neck, brown back and short round tail. Flies low and fast, with very rapid wing beats. Like all razorbills, the common guillemot is highly sensitive to oil pollution.

Lesser black-backed gull (Larus fuscus) - A183
The lesser black-backed gull has a wing span of 117 cm to 134 cm. Its back and wings are slate grey to almost black, the rest of the bird is white. Its beak is yellow and there is a red fleck on the lower beak. It is a fairly common breeding bird and during its migration it is fairly common throughout Europe.
