Research into conservation objectives

The designation orders for the Natura 2000 sites specify the aims for the habitats and the species to be protected. The supporting ecological reasoning has been compiled by IMARES Wageningen UR at the request of the Ministry of Agriculture, Nature and Food Quality.

The scientific arguments for, and the recommendations for the conservation objectives are described in the report entitled, Conservation Objectives for Natura 2000 sites (SACs and SPAs) in the Dutch sector of the North Sea and in the Appendices Report to the Conservation Objectives for Natura 2000 sites (SACs and SPAs) in the Dutch sector of the North Sea (both publications Jak et al., 2009).
